Advice on post-race brunch spot--dog friendly

  • 4

I am in need of some local knowledge on a place to have brunch after running the Cherry Blossom 10-miler on Sunday April 11th. The catch is, our dog will be with us. I've searched previous threads on brunch, outdoor brunch, and the like, but so far, I haven't found a place with the combination of breakfast food, outdoor seating, and walking distance from the National Mall area. Any ideas? If it doesn't exist, we are willing to abandon the walking distance criteria in order to find a good brunch+dog-friendly outdoor seating. I don't know much about the DC layout, so details about location/distance are appreciated! Thanks in advance.

  1. Can't help you with walking distance from the Mall. However, just across the Potomac in Arlington, the Clarendon area has many good places with brunch and nice outdoor seating. Some of them are Liberty Tavern, Whitlows, Boulevard Woodgrill and others.

    1. A lot of places in that area have a few outdoor tables, but nothing you can count on, except perhaps Poste which has a big outdoor patio. I know Zatinya has a nice size outdoor patio, but don't know if they do brunch. Most of these places say they wont take a reservation for the patio, but if you explain the situation they might. I think Cafe Du Parc has a couple outdoor tables.

Cava on Capitol Hill has outdoor tables, so does Monmartre that are dog friendly. I think Le Pain Quiotien (sp?) too.

I don't know of any places on the more west end of the mall...

      1. Art and Soul on Capitol Hill has outdoor patio and promotes bringing your dog along
