Help for Aunt's 50th B-Day (drinks and dinner with teenagers!)

My Aunt is coming from San Diego with her 17 year-old son and his friend. My husband and I are meeting up with them and another family (2 parents, 2 teenagers) to get drinks and dinner in midtown (30-70th Street, west is better but east ok too). Should be nice but not too fancy. No particular food restrictions, and kids are pretty food-adventurous. Should be spacious enough that folks from CA wouldn't feel terribly cramped and/or rushed.

So far, the best I can come up with is Per Se for drinks and Landmarc in Time Warner for dinner. Better ideas, PLEASE??? Thank you!!

Thanks everyone! These are great suggestions. I was aiming for a fancy drinks place and a less fancy (less expensive) dinner place as I'm not sure who is paying or how this is going to work out with the other family. That's why I thought of Landmarc. Does anyone know of places in the area that would be more that speed? Thanks so much for all the help!!

What exactly do you mean by "more that speed"?

More in the $18-23 per entree area than $30-42. I realize I may have thrown folks off with the per se comment, but I was thinking that would be fun for 1 or 2 drinks and then head someplace more casual for dinner. So that's what I'm hoping for if people have ideas. Thanks!!

We've never been to Landmarc, but I looked at their dinner menu, and just about all the dishes listed under "Entrées" + all the steaks are in the mid-$20's-high '30's. The main course options that fall into your budget range are salads, one risotto dish, and the daily pasta special.

Landmark is a great idea, stick with that.

If my math is correct, that's 10 people?

I guess "not too fancy" lets Jean Georges out (?), but how about Nougatine? You could have both drinks and dinner there. The food is delicious, service is excellent, it is spacious, and if you are seated in the front (which is most probably with such a large party), the huge windows have a great view of Columbus Circle and Central Park.

Just to be clear, per se is in the TWC while (Jean Georges and Nougatine are in the Trump International Hotel.

If you're already considering that area, how about A Voce Columbus? Excellent food, spacious dining room, lovely view onto Columbus Circle.
