Leatha's in Hattiesburg was awful when I tried it. I mean really bad. I've tried many places in South MS. The best place I've tried by far is The Mercantile BBQ in downtown Collins. When I say there's not a close second in south MS, I'm not kidding.

Surprised at a bad review of Leatha's! I've eaten there several, several times - brought friends - sung their praises all over - and have never had anything but great experiences there.

I'll have to give Mercantile and Pleasant's a try, though.

stvtunlvzn mentioned them in this thread - I just looked it up, and they're at:

1415 Government Street, Ocean Springs, MS 39564-3823

No one that I have found...it's all just blah so far!

The Shed is OK, but not "the best" - The best Q I have had since moving back to the Coast from the land of Q (Bham) was homemade.

I hope someone else has a more uplifting suggestion, b/c I would love to try some proper Q.
