Bay Area visit - food destinations/affordable wineries

I will be coming to Sausalito April 6 and am looking for some can't miss food destinations. I will have transportation and plan on going to Petaluma and Sonoma. Things already on my radar...The French Laundry, B.R. Cohn for olive oil tasting, farmers markets, Chez Panisse cafe, Ferry Building...I like just about anything from cheap and dirty street food to fine dining but will be on a little bit of a budget. I plan on a couple of nice meals but am also interested in finding lots of great ingredients for cooking/picnicing.

I also need help finding wineries that have affordable bottles (<$25), nice scenery near Sonoma or Petaluma. There are just so many options and it is difficult to sort through them. Though I realize I'm going to the land of Cabernet and Chardonnay I really enjoy minerally, zippy, clean, crisp, acidic whites, sparkling wines and most reds (Riesling, Viognier, old world Chardonnay, Sauv Blanc, Muscadet). Thanks in advance for your help.

  1. Ah, you list Lupa as a favorite restaurant. I think you can put La Ciccia and Incanto on your list. If you're considering Chez Panisse Cafe, you should also consider Zuni, Range and Canteen.

If you're coming from Chicago, you can probably pass on Mexican and Thai, but maybe consider Burmese, Peruvian, and Vietnamese.

There have actually been a lot of trip research threads recently, so I'm going to refer you to this one:
