Haleem in Jackson Heights?
Does anyone know where I can find haleem in Jackson Heights? I found it at Al-Naimat but wasn't too impressed with their version.

a friend of mine swears by Kebab King's and it was good but I had a very good one at Alauddin's Sweetmeats; well-garnished and very satisfying. Did you order Al-Naimat's a la carte?

Mina makes the best haleem I've had. I've never been there when she didn't have it.

Cool! Will definitely try the haleem at Spicy Mina's. I tried the one at Alauddin's today and am sad to report that it was extremely disappointing--not at all like any haleem I've had. The place that made me a fan of haleem is Haandi (in Curry Hill).

I had a Pakistani cabbie suggest Sunshine on Northern Blvd. in Woodside.

yes! I ate at Sun Shine a while ago but never tried the haleem (although looking at my old thread, I was given a taste and enjoyed it! the place needs support, I stop by there occasionally still for takeout; I like it better than the other indian place right nearby on northern, I forget the name.
Anyway, here's my note from a couple years ago:

After having a discussion with some Hyderabadis I've been working with, I decided it was time to finally take the haleem plunge. I took my own second-hand cabbie advice and tried it at Sunshine. Guys there were friendly, though I think they thought it was funny I came in asking for haleem (there was a question of "are you sure you don't mean this" such and such other thing?). I was asked it I wanted it spicy (yes, please) which led to a healthy dash of diced green chilis on top. I got some naan with it as well. I particularly like the chunks of ginger garnishing it.
As a haleem virgin, I don't have a point of comparison with others, but it was tasty, and I'd like to experience it again. The texture (meat snot) took some getting used to, and it's a bit of a gut bomb, but I think I'll try it again sometime soon.
