Nice Brunch in KC

I've searched the archives and can't find anything recent that really gives me what I'm looking for: Nice Sunday Brunch. Not too expensive or formal (e.g., Peppercorn, Benton's, Intercontinental) not too informal or everyday (e.g., Cinzetti's). We've likes Bristol and Figlio's but would like to try solmething new.

Any suggestions? North of 135th, between 435 on the east and west, SOuth of the river.

Thanks so much

My favorite Brunches in Kansas City besides the Bristol are probably Lydia's and the M&S Grill. Lydia's even does brunch on Saturdays last I heard.

      Room 39 is perfect.

I was looking at that menu, the artichoke toast looks great...

Yeah, I had the artichoke toast with poached eggs last time we ate brunch at Room 39. Fantastic dish!

I think that Room 39 does a Saturday breakfast, but Sunday brunch only on special occasions like Mother's Day and Easter. I took my mom to the Midtown location for mother's day and the three-course brunch was fantastic.

I guess I use the term 'brunch' loosely. It's my first meal of the day, but is sometimes not eaten at traditional breakfast times on the weekend. That's really all I intended to imply, not that the artichoke toast is a special or holiday Brunch item.

Here is a suggestion. Avenues Bistro on 63rd street in Brookside. Problem is, they don't take reservations (or used to not do so) and they have a GREAT buffet. Actually, you order one entree (like around 6-8 $$ and then the rest of the b'fast/lunch comes as part of the entire price of something like $12.00. This place is heavenly for a weekend buffet, but it's packed, b/c the locals all love it too.

I've heard good things about The Well's brunch as well as Avenue's Bistro. 75th Street Brewery recently started a brunch, also. Those are all in Waldo/Brookside. Grand Street's brunch is excellent!

If it's not too late, consider Cafe Europa, bluestem, and Lidia's.

              I second the Lidia's recommendation.

Tannah's Restaurant in Overland Park, Kansas is right at the edge of your boundaries. Asian fusion plus traditional breakfast dishes. I liked the Szechwan beef, Szechwan chicken, vegetable stir fry, and the spicy but sweet sriracha chicken wings.
