Any Decent Pizza Options in U St., 14th St. Logan Area Yet?

With all the new places popping up, was wondering if anybody is serving up a half-way decent pizza in the U St., 14th St. and Logan Circle area (let's throw in Shaw for good measure too). I'm no pizza snob by any stretch, but for a reference point my favorite in the DC area is Vace.

Based on the boxes in see in my apt. building, Pizza Boli and Alberto's and Domino's are the go-to places. Got to be something better. Also, I've tried Homemade Pizza Co. too. Nearly twenty bucks for the equivalent of a frozen CPK? Never again!

  1. Have you tried Coppi's? I think it's pretty darn good.

Pete's Apizza in Columbia Heights isn't too far, and it's casual and by the slice like Vace.

I second hamster's suggestion for Pete's Apizza -- it's very, very good and only about 10 steps from the Columbia Heights Metro escalator. I don't know if they deliver though. (Your mention of boxes you've seen in your building makes me think you might be looking for delivery.) Their slices are great -- that is, if you sit there until you see a whole pizza coming out and being sliced in front of you and then order that type. I got a slice there once that tasted like it had been sitting out for hours. Of course if you order a whole pie you won't have that problem.

Pete's does deliver, not cheap, but the pizzas hold up well with delivery.

If Columbia Heights is now included in "U St, 14th St, Logan Circle", then you should also consider Radius Pizza. Awesome stuff.

      2. You can try Il Posto, 1515 14th Street, NW, just a half block from P St. Once I sat at their bar and ordered pizza during a non-busy night. I recall that the pizza was pretty good, but that was several months ago. I guess if I really loved it, I would have been back.
