Soup n' Sandwich Joint

clutterer Mar 27, 2010 06:27 PM

Sometimes the simplest thing is the hardest: anyone recommend a soup and sandwich place that one can go to for a casual lunch for those lazy days?

Here's a list of places that we frequent often when we're in that kind of mood. Each is fine, but we're quickly getting bored of them:

Eataly (the name is so unfortunate)
Coco and Olive
That soup place beside Blue Water

As you can probably tell, we'd prefer to stay in Vancouver and not trek all the way out to the 'burbs (see above re: lazy).

i'd like to echo islandgirl's recommendation of Burgoo...good rustic comfort food with a cozy laid-back atmosphere.

Not a ton of tables but great grilled sarnies (anywhere that offers a potato sandwich is all right by me) and housemade soup at Mix the Bakery on 10th nearish UBC. I also like their bread very much (you get a random slice or two with the soup) but have been less impressed with the sweet offerings, FWIW.

there is a little place on broadway called Kanata chowder house.. their white clam chowder is the best i have had in the city... and their sandwiches are yummy too. they also serve carrots and pickles plus usually some sort of dessert with their meals plus everyone who works there is super nice.

Swiss Bakery sells soup and sandwiches (namely their pretzel sandwiches). I haven't tried - though I've heard good things. I've only had their bread and pretzels.

Sciue - ah, yes. I should've included that into the list too. We like it, but overexhausted it.
