Weck canning jars?

Is there a source for Weck canning jars in the area (preferably SF)?

Ordering them straight from the company is possible but awkward (no online order, have to call for shipping quote, fax information etc.).

But on the plus side the look gorgeous.

  1. You can get them in the Bay Area at Heath Ceramics in Sausalito.
400 Gate Five Road, Sausalito 415-332-3732. I tried using the Weck on line site but they're pretty expensive, even for Weck jars.

The brand-new Heath Ceramics store in the SF Ferry Building has them too.

I priced them on the Weck site and at Heath. As I recall they are VERY marked up at Heath.

I guess i'll just have to check out the situation.

    2. Just to update the situation. I went to Heath Cermics in the Ferry Terminal and looked at their small selection. They didn't have very many to choose from and not the style I wanted. They have the ones I wanted in the Sausalito store but wouldn't make arrangements to bring them (even by special request) to the Ferry Terminal.

I guess I'll wait until I go to Sausalito (a rare event) or hope to find them elsewhere.

I just saw them at The Gardener on 4th St in Berkeley. Depending on the size, they were @$3.50-$5+.

We do a lot of canning and after looking around ended up ordering them online. Heath was expensive and had a limited selection.
If you have not used then before and pan on canning be forewarned that the technique is slightly different.

        2. Crate and Barrel usually carries Weck

          1. Gravel and Gold in the Mission has them sometimes...probably not a huge selection, but they are really nice and might let you know if they can special order?
