Suggestions for Birthday dinner - lower westchester

Any suggestions for a birthday dinner for two best friends who love food? We're looking for something great with a nice atmosphere. We were considering Zitoune but they are only open until 10pm, and will probably not arrive until 9 on a weeknight. Also looked at 42 but it looks very pricey. If it is worth it, will consider. Also need a place where we can get a resevation for next week....

Harvest Supper. Worth the drive to CT and you will love it. They serve late. I arrive at 9pm there and am never the last table seated. If you want to stay in Westchester do tarry lodge, nessa, lolitas, or Peniche in WP.

    2. Went to and organized a birthday dinner a few weeks ago at Peniche. They were extremely attentive, and did just about anything we asked for in the planning phase. The food was enjoyable and so was the vibe. I was a little skeptical at first, but it worked out great!

        Peniche is pricey, isn't it?

Tarry Lodge has a nice vibe, annrudy, and you can't go wrong with their pizzas.

Peniche is defintely not pricey. Especially with a large group, you can share small plates and pitchers of sangria for less than $50pp.

      2. If you go to Equus you'll have an amazing dinner and not have to fight any crowds.

Probably because they don't give a lot of wine or food for the high prices they charge.

Sorry, i didn't think that $100 for a 6 course chefs tasting menu in an unusual setting with great, professiional and friendly service was expensive.

Is that the wine dinner? It's $115. and doesn't include cocktails or wine. Still, it's not something they used to have, and if their wine pour has improved and their service is no longer haughty, it looks like they're trying to improve their image.

There is still better to be had, in that price range, at the Bedford Post Inn tasting menu.

The six course chefs tasting menu available anytime is $100, or, for $160 you can have the 6 course chefs tasting paired with a different glass of wine with each course. The 4 course dinner is around $75. I have also never failed to be presented with an amuse at the start of the meal . The staff, if you engage them, have always been warm and friendly. The chef, david, has given us tours of the wine cellar and kitchen and always comes out to chat. I've been going for about 10 years and have always enjoyed it.

        2. What about H2O?

oops, lol, yes! X20! We have had several celebration meals there, and they have always been lovely -- excellent food, service and view.
