Best Italian in Wilmington DE

Despite the numerous nay sayers, Wilmington has quite a few good Italian restaurants, My top 5 would be:

1)Pomodoro, Ecclectic and innovative Italian, stacks up to just about any top places for food, if you haven't tried, you need to go here).

2)Madelline's, [#1 as far as Gravy goes] very south Philly kind of place, if you have never been, save the travel to S. Philly this is also better then Ralph's and several other S.Philly places.

3)Mona Lisa, [#2, just in Gravy] Solid Italian, some traditional, some more ecclectic.

4)Nonnas, Very good overall, heck of a wine list too.

5)Attillio's, [#3 in just gravy], Traditional Italian, they do it quite well.

Close, but no cigar, honerable mention:

Toscana OK, but not real Italian, kind of has a lot of other things on menu
Cafe Gelato OK, but not there, not pure Italian
Ms Robinos Nice Bracciole though, sauce is burnt tasting
Cafe Mezzonate, kind of a fussy place
Soffrittos

No Opinion (been too long since been there):

Pastabilities
Cafe Scalessas (menu is spoken only, last time I was there)
Vincentes (guy throws cheese at you when making caesar salad)
Valle Cucina (mostly a steak place, really...very good aged steaks
Del Rose
Marcos (not been yet, heard mixed reviews)

Dont go to these places, subpar:

Any of the chain Italian places. They are a sin to go to when you can get soo much better local places, and keep dining dollars in the communty. Italian is pretty cheap, so no excuse to eat at the chains...money for example.

Pescatore's Is like a chain place, any you know it when walking in the door (maybe technically PA, just over state line)
Capers and Lemons. Dunno what they think is real Italian, but this is not it.
Lambertis. Fill your face kind of place, quantity, not quality.
