Avignon Dinners

We are returning to Avignon for 4 days in May. We were there last May and enjoyed dinners at La Fourchette and Numero 75. This year we will be there 4 nights. We are considering a day trip over to Arles Wednesday for the market, then maybe lunch. We do not have a car so are pretty committed to dinners in Avignon. Any recommendations?

I think you really miss so much by being car less in Provence. Provence is a magical place but you can't see most of it without a car. We own a house about 45 minutes east of Avignon and I am surprised every day by new sights. You can rent cars from all of the major car rental companies at the Avignon TGV station. I really encourage you to rent a car.

Having said that, I had a great lunch at Restaurant Hiély Lucullus on rue de la Republique about one month ago. I posted about my dining experience at www.sablethouse.blogspot.com

I've been loving Hiely since I was first there in 1992. food always delicous, and service always warm.

Also have had great dinners at l'Isle Sonnante, in the same area as La Fourchette. Darned if I can remember the name of the street right now.

I went to Hiely after the reviews here and it was incredible! Make reservations and prepare to love the food! I think the price is also very good for the quality of food and service you receive. Hiely is a must! Thank you for the great direction in Avignon!

Hotel D'Europe was very nice but I only ate a light lunch there.
Very nice to be in the courtyard on a lovely day.
Not the most economical of choices but you did not stipulate.

The big Arles market is on Saturday.
