Change at Talula's Table

I know TT is a favorite of many on this board so I thought I would pass along this info. Apparently, Brian and Aimee have split up and he will not have much of a role anymore.

  1. That's extremely sad. They were just one of the absolute best places in the whole area, including Phila. We have the table on April 6, so I can report back if we see any change from last time (which was 2 years ago). The food shop doesn't seem to have changed too much.

Yes, I was saddened by the news, too. I'm there fairly often, and from outward appearances, everything is pretty much as it's always been. Have you had a conversation with Aimee about your upcoming dinner?

I was sad to have read this although we haven't been able to plan far enough in advance to enjoy the table. I was on their web site a few minutes ago and as of then, it appeared they had a cancellation for March 30. This date doesn't work for us and there is no way I could come up with a group of 8 that quickly. However, I remember once that a Chowhounder posted they had a couple of openings in their party for a certain night. If that ever happens again, we would love to be included. Thanks.

    2. Two separate threads here on chowhound discussing this news.
You might be pleased to know that LeBan has reported the hiring of new kitchen staff and, apparently, good food being produced.

From what I've read, it's not that new kitchen staff has been hired, but rather that the old kitchen staff has remained at TT, providing the quality and consistency guests expect.

While some of the media coverage has been reassuring, what I find sad and unnecessary is the "gossip" related to Aimee and Bryan's personal lives that has accompanied these articles.

        1. re: CindyJ

You are right on both counts: the old kitchen staff remains. What I meant is that there is a new chef and sous-chef.

With regard to the lurid details of Aimee and Bryan's personal lives, I had the same feelings after reading LeBan's article and emailed him. He defended his coverage of the changes by saying that these are two individuals who are local celebrities, that the nature of the events illuminate the pressures of the business and that he attempted to handle delicate information tactfully.

chowhound editors: please eliminate this post.
it was originally a reply to another post, which you have already deleted.
            thus, my reply is meaningless.
