Where to eat in Leavenworth?
Just to write back after our trip to Leavenworth this past weekend.
We had a wonderful time at the Bavarian Lodge. Definately a cut above the average hotel breakfast buffet IMO.
We had two dinners out, at King Ludwig's and Andreas Keller (we were definately there for the German eats since we don't get them at home). Both restaurants were great.
At King Ludwigs, we sat in the restaurant area, not the beer garden area, as they had live music which was a little too loud for our two year old. The service was very quick and friendly. I had the Schwein'Haaxen which was HUGE!!! We could have shared this meal and still have had leftovers. The crackling was perfectly done, although the portion was so huge it was difficult to cut into at first. We managed somehow. My husband had the assorted sausage plate which was tasty although nothing too special. I particularly liked the red cabbage here as it was nicely spiced with cinnamon and cloves which was a bit different.
Andreas Keller was perhaps a touch better in terms of food quality although the portions were slightly smaller and slightly more expensive. We liked the beer sampling options here. This time my husband ordered the SchweinHaaxe which was lovely again and much more manageable a portion sized. I had the various sausage appetizer, a side of Wein Kraut and a side of spaetzle.
Both restaurants had excellent service and live music the nights we were there. A good time!
