Sunday Dinner Specials

mjh5821 Mar 24, 2010 11:31 AM

I know at one point Gotham had one...Marc Forgione has one...Aureole has one in the bar room....what are the best current Sunday dinner specials? Thinking more downtown (South of 42nd), but aside from that just looking for high end places for a great (Less expensive than usual) Sunday meal. Thanks!

Public has a 5-course, $55 menu that changes weekly. Some of the dishes are hit or miss, but an enjoyable experience either way.

I agree, the Sunday Supper is a great meal and Public is a really nice place.

I celebrated my birthday this past Sunday with the pre-fixe at Apiary for $35 for three courses. I believe it's offered Sun-Thurs. It was worth every penny and I actually enjoyed the leftovers for two more nights (the portion of chicken was huuuge and delish!). I opted for their version of the caesar salad which was great, and I tried bf's salad which had a red wine vinaigrette over arugula, very refreshing. The panna cotta for dessert was yummy as well, and was served with really good raspberry sauce and raspberries. I also ordered a side of their version of mac n cheese (I think it was $8?), which was essentially orzo pasta with alfredo sauce and chives. It was definitely a great deal for the portion sizes they give!

Dovetail has one for $38, which I have very much enjoyed.

I didn't mention it because it is uptown, but the Dovetail Sunday Suppa is one of the better dinners I've had at that price point, not to mention generally.

$20 three-course Sunday Suppers at Northern Spy Food Co. Menu changes by the week. It's usually posted on their twitter the day of or the day before. Last week's menu: beets & dunbarton blue cheese, fried chicken & warm potato salad, chocolate cake sundae. Mmmm.

            $26 three-course dinners Sunday-Thursday evenings from 10:30pm-midnight at Lupa...http://www.luparestaurant.com/mezzano...
