East Bay fried chicken - Scends?
Scends on San Pablo in Emeryville (Oakland?) is one of those places I';ve had on my to-try list forever and just never got to.
This weeks' east bay yelp email was about good fried chicken and scend's was mentioned. Anyone tried it?
In addititon to the usual places such as Bakesale Betty, House of Chicken and Waffles, Angeline's and Jodies, they mentioned Caesar's chicken (Hayward) and Porky's. Anyone tried those.
In the Tri-Valley area Maharlika's, trumpets Tipanan's (Filipino-style) and Coco Chicken got thumbs up

Scends' fried chicken is perfection--perfectly seasoned, crispy skin, toothsome. But note that they serve only wings (as a result, meat is not as moist as, say, thigh meat). Lots of other fried options (prawns, fish, oysters, fries) but the wings are the thing. No, wait, the oxtails on the Monday-only soul food menu and the shortribs are the Wednesday-only soul food menu are also great.

I have had Mahalrika's many times - it is good but they are a bit like the soup nazi - and even if you order ahead plan on waiting. They also chop the chicken into unidentifiable body parts before frying so I am never sure what part of the chicken I am getting (I like drumsticks).
Have not tried Scends or Pican yet.

Haven't tried most of these places, but Pican makes the best fried chicken I've had so far in the Bay Area. I'll add Scends to my to-try list along with the fried chicken wings at Taste of Joy.
My current, but by no means comprehensive, East Bay rankings:
