Sureny in Gracia

That is Gracia in Barcelona to be specific.

that's one of my go-to spots when in BCN! innovative tapas for not a lot o money and they also have a wonderful and reasonably-priced wine list. to top it off, it's in gracia, which is a great neighborhood to spend an evening in.

haha...actually i never thought i'd ever see it mentioned in the anglo-speaking foodie world. glad you asked about it!

while i'm at it, petra in borne is another inexpensive under-the-radar favorite. if they still have the gnocchi in txangurro (crab) sauce, get it!

Smokin, sorry to interrupt but I just came across this blog about Sureny. I'm not commenting about the restaurant, just sharing someone else's review. Have a look at the pictures. It's unusual how the blogger has gone to so much trouble to document what he considers a truly terrible meal. If I have a bad meal, I tell all my friends and then I try to forget it. Taking pictures is like keeping the memory forever. Weird.

I read that review a while ago and he seems to be in the minority. One thing I have learned about innovative fare is that sometimes it can go wrong and even if it doesn't it could rub people the wrong way.

Hey guys,
I'm in Barcelona and revisited Sureny....sadly it didn't live up to my prior experiences. The tuna marinated with soy and sweet mustard was missing whatever it used to have that gave it a certain pop. The rest of the meal was fine, although I feel the portion sizes have gotten smaller and the execution wasn't as stellar as before. Has anyone been recently? I really want to continue loving this place and am hoping I went on an off night!
