Dinner uptown/west/near the airport?

Hey!

I'm going to a function by the airport on Saturday. I booked a hotel by the airport for the weekend, so going up a day early on Friday night.

I usually eat ONLY downtown, but I'm looking for somewhere to take my S/O on Friday night on the way to the hotel.

I guess I'm looking for somewhere near the airport, or enroute to it...so I can drive to the restaurant, then onto the hotel afterwards.

I usually like places like The Wine Bar, Focaccia, Note Bene, Forte, Midi Bistro downtown...so I'm looking for something nice like that uptown or airport-ish area.

Suggestions? Something nice, mid-price, between downtown and the airport, or near the to airport?!

Thanks!

I live in Etobicoke south of the airport. Honestly don't think there is anything great out that way.
If you want to take a chance two places that remind me of Wine Bar and others you named are: Puciella (sp?) and West 39th Bistro, both located on Lakeshore near Browns Line. Excellent food, cool atmosphere, smaller bistro like setting, personalized service.

I would also suggest The Kingsway area near Royal York- there is ViBo and La Veranda near Royal York & Bloor. There are lots of other restos around there too.
If you want sushi I have heard amazing things about Kaji sushi on Queensway near Islington.
If you are set are staying near the airport the only place I would recommend is Prince Japanese Steakhouse on Eglinton near Centenial Park Rd. or Grand Chinese (dim sum) at a hotel on the airport strip.

Thanks for those suggestions, I'm checking them out right now! I'd love to go to Kaji, its just justifying the money without there being a special occasion! I hear its amazing though?!

I thought I remember reading something in Toronto Life or the Star about a restaurant in Etobicoke that was fresh and tasty like Kaji just not as fancy. I will try to find out for you and post it back here
