Favorite Spots in Hunterdon & Mercer Counties

I'm trying to find new places to eat/drink in Hunterdon and Mercer counties. My favorites around are Elements in Princeton, Blue Bottle in Hopewell, Hamilton's in Lambertville, Rosemont Cafe in Rosemont, and for sushi, I like Aijei in Princeton and Ota-ya in Lambertville. Am I missing you favorite spots? Can be bar, lunch, dinner, whatever. Thanks!

Can't disagree with any of ambrose's recommendations, and would add just one more - - Aikou in Flemington serves extraordinary sushi.

I should have mentioned that Casa Maya, the Mexican restaurant in High Bridge, shares a building with Café Hola, a super little place that serves breakfast and lunch. The two restaurants are owned by the same couple but the food at Café Hola is more Cuban in nature. This place is not to be missed; the food is very good and the value can't be beat! If you go for breakfast, definitely try the Cuban French toast.

A few local bar favorites would include: The Boathouse (classic cocktails in a comfortable setting), Left Bank Libations (for a nightcap) and the Swan Bar (great drinks by a true pro behind the bar and a kitchen that's always on top of their game) ... all in Lambertville and all preferably not on a weekend. : )

Another bar, Rossi's in the Chambersburg section of Trenton has been around forever. Gets rave reviews for their burger and home made chips. We've yet to try but it's on our go to (very soon) list.

And for pizza, the defacto Mercer county fav is DeLorenzo's. Hudson St, Trenton for the classic old world experience or Robbinsville for the 21st century experience!

Highly recommend 55 Main, in Flemington (with the caveat that I have not been there in about a year - - presumably it is still excellent but perhaps another CH can confirm).

I agree with madgreek. 55 Main is a superb lunch venue. The food is excellent, the portions quite generous and the prices are really good - great value for a great experience.

We've had dinner a few times there and never had as satisfactory experience as we've had at lunch. And the prices are MUCH higher at dinner.

One 53, Rocky Hill. Great food & vibe. We dine at the bar very frequently as do many other couples. Tables are a bit tight and not our preference. We enjoy the inevitable yet enjoyable conversations struck up with others seated at the bar. Weeknights are better than Saturdays when it's most busy. Highly recommend the the escargot app & the muscovy duck breast w/spinach gnocchi entree, both on their current menu. Also enjoy the well prepared cocktails along with an interesting wine list, captain's list and by the glass selection.

I keep telling myself I'm going to try One 53. Think we'll finally get over there.

We love the food at One53 but find the service really poor. Yes, they're nice and so on, but it is sooo slow. Not like enjoyably paced slow, but like: will i ever get my food, slow. I have never, ever been there when this wasn't the case, and I've been at least 12 times since they've opened. Still, we're not deterred since the food is really good and the options around here aren't many. However, having said that, we do find that the service has actually gotten slower and slower, each time we've been--and it doesn't matter, full house, no events, slow night, whatever!
