Happy Hour deals Downtown

Heading to a concert at Staples on Thursday and looking for any decent happy hour deals to hit before. I know Katsu-Ya has a decent HH from 5:30-7 anybody have any other suggestions? Thanks.

You must have gone to the John Mayer concert, like I did. We went to Drago Centro's happy hour. They have $5 specialty cocktails--a mai tai, a rye manhattan, a vodka/cranberry juice, and something called Aviation, which was good, but a little sweet. I don't recall what was in it. We ate the Kobe sliders (very good, order comes with 2,) bruschetta with tomatoes and white anchovies (tasty), eggplant bruschetta (didn't try that one) and a torta with pork belly, which was similar to a quiche, and I didn't taste the pork belly that much. I would definitely get the sliders again and I loved the Manhattan. Most of the food items were $3-5. On the other side of the bar menu was a list of other specialty cocktails for $12. We had 4 $5 cocktails and 4 food items for $47 before tip. There was also a cheese plate, a charcuterie plate, and 3 different kinds of individual pizzas. Valet parking is free for 4 hours. Seemed like an older crowd. But delicious and cheap.

Check out the Pacific Dining Car. I recall that they used to lay out a wonderful array of appetizers at no charge including but not limited to oysters on the half shell.

Right across from Staples is BottleRock, and they have one of the best Happy Hours I know, anywhere, not just downtown. Great food, huge selection of wines and beer at super low prices - they call it Rush Hour.

Is that the same as the Culver City location? I really like that place. Thanks for that rec.

Yes, it is the same one as Culver City. Been there about a year. It is nice that they have HH on Saturday too. I stopped in this weekend and they had a choice of 4 premium beer pints for $4 ea. There were a couple wines specials, but I forgot to look.I had the mini antipasti place which was ridiculously small even at discount. It was served with wheat bread that had crusted over like it sat out all day. IT was not toasted. However on either side of me, folks were eating better. O the left they quite enjoyed the $5 beer steamed mussels, gave it an 8 out of 10. And on the right, they had pulled pork sliders that looked quite good. Service was very nice and friendly.

            Hi mc michael,

Nice deal! How are the drinks at Drago Centro? In all the times I've been there, we go straight to the table for dinner. :) Are their drinks like Varnish and Rivera (Farmer's Market ingredients, special bitters, etc.)? Thanks.

To be honest, I've only had wine there, but they do have a nice bar area. I did notice when I was sitting there that they stocked Patron Platinum. I asked and was told I could have some for $30 a shot. I wasn't that curious.
Now that I'm thinking about it I recall once havng a Negroni up before dinner. Very well made.

$5 happy hour stuff like aviation, ward eight. Other cocktails are $12. The somm actually has turned into the bartender since no one else was taking charge. His drinks are ok better than standard but not even close to Julian's drinks at Rivera. He's a pretty good somm from what I hear. I usually stick to the wines there

McCormick & Schmick in the US Bank tower has a good HH - $2 for their burger which is unbeatable.

The burger price has increased. It's now $2.95.
