Good place to catch the Final Four

Hello, hounds! We'll be in NYC for Easter weekend and we would love to find a good sports bar to watch some basketball. Preferably a place with good bar food, but nothing too expensive (i.e. $15 burger and $10 beer) Dives are fine if there are TV's:) We're staying in the World Center Hotel near the financial district but we are perfectly willing to travel. Thanks in advance!

  1. I believe right near you Warren 77 has been getting great reviews. I haven't been yet but would check it out.

    1. While I've not been, I've walked by The Ainsworth many times and am always impressed by how many TVs they have. New, large space. I believe their menu has been revamped, as well:

      1. Both places recommended so far look quite nice, and not prohibitively expensive, but for something a little less fancy, Standings on 7th Street in the East Village always does the trick for me -- divey atmosphere, but excellent selection of 10-15 rotating microbrews on draught for 6 bucks apiece. No bar menu, though they often offer free pizza or sausages during big sporting events, and they' have loads of menus from all around the EV so you can order food for delivery.

Every inch of wall is covered by TVs, and it can get a bit cozy, but it's as wholesome and down-to-earth as sports bars come - comparisons to a sports geek's paraphernalia-laden rec-room are pretty common, and accurate.

Standings is a great rec. Awesome EV bar. And you have burp castle, one of the best bar experiences in NYC, right next door for quality belgian brews before the games start. AND if that's not enough, you have Jimmy's No.43 right next door to the burp for some quality gastropub food and some great microbrews too all in a funky basement set-up. East 7th st. is a glorious street for beer lovers!!
