The fairly new Blowfish Sushi is very close to the Marmont. Would also head over to AOC or Lucques, both in WeHo. Have a great trip!

both AOC and LUCQUES are suzanne goin's restaurants. aoc stands for appellation d'origine controlee - has to do with wines and stuff (where they're from) - but i'm a totaly wine rookie so that's all i know about that. aoc serves small plates and has lots of wine. (haven't been there myself) www.aocwinebar.com

LUCQUES, i have been to, and is very very good. a lot of people here say that sitting at the bar is awesome - which i will do soon, too.

i love BLOWFISH SUSHI - it's a bit trendy, with contemporary flashy creative sushi and cocktails. there's a dj in the back room playing electronica light (although, on the weekends, sometimes it's pretty bangin') and there are tiny little screens embedded in the walls that show japanime. i don't eat much of the creative sushi (i am a bit of a traditionalist), but i do like their other small plates. it's very iron chef japanese, if that means anything to you - lol!

for more japanese options in that area - you can also try KATANA - it's a sushi and robata bar, also kinda hipster, but the food is really great. i love sitting out on the front patio, and call me a dorky tourist, but i get a kick out of seeing a few of the almost-famous here and there :)

Some good are high-end suggestions you've already been given (I would add Boa Steakhouse and Chemeau). For funkier, lower-end try El Compadre (mexican), Cheebo, Astroburger, Thai Town (search the site you'll find lots of ideas), Largo (awful food -- great music), Bar Marmont (decent burgers, onion rings, great atmo/meat market), Little Tokyo (search the site but I recommend Kokekoko or Sushi Gen), Koreatown, .... the list goes on. Don't miss Monterey Park for the (Western) World's most extensive array of Chinese food.

oh! i'll give a thumbs up to BOA steakhouse as well - which is across the sreet from KATANA, and walking distance from chateau marmont! it's kinda cold inside, but if you sit on the patio that overlooks the pool, it's nice if it's warm weather outside. also - not sure if still the case - sunday nights - half price on bottle of wine. of course, still we spend the same amount on wine - just drink more - lol!

i give a thumbs up to cheebo for what it is: casual, funky to the extreme with some very yummy food. never had the pizza although it looks good. i love the chop salads (when i'm feeling healthy) and the pork sandwich w/ manchego (when i'm not). Cheebo is on Sunset blvd. right across from El Compadre, a couple blocks west of la brea (brain may not be working well this afternoon...just a warning)

If you can brave the no-japanese, try Angeli Caffe. Great inventive food at a reasonable price in a really nice setting. It's on Melrose.
