  1. Can you explain in more detail what steps you're taking and what problems you're running into?

OK, reading thread, want to link a older thread to my post for more info for the OP, click on older thread, found on either "discussions" listing at bottom of page or through search function; on drop down menu hit properties and when I try to copy the link at the page that pops up with the chowtopic link, I get a series of changes, the site goes away, my weather.com desktop pops up, closes, then I'm directed back to the thread I was posting to. So weird...
The short of it, I can't copy an older topic to paste into the thread I'm posting to.
It been happening at every board, every time, without fail, for the past two days. Distressing.
I can't think of anything I've changed on my end. Any clues?

EDIT: I just tried it again and got a "problem with this webpage caused the tab to close" message.

That sounds like a problem with your browser, rather than anything with our site, unfortunately.

When you're looking at a link to the thread you want to link (in the search results, perhaps), you should be able to just right click on the link and choose 'copy shortcut'. Or, when viewing the page, you should be able to just copy the address directly out of the address bar in your browser, without going to properties. Do either of those options work for you?

Yes, I clicked on "permalink" at the chosen thread and I also copied directly from the address bar, and all is well. One less step than what I was originally doing. I feel empowered.
Thanks sincerely for your help. Onward and upward.
