Best eats near Tinley Park
I'll be in town for one night in late July, have a show to go to at 7:30 pm, in Tinley Park. Curious to get some opinions as to where i can go near by to get the best meal possible and still make the show with ease. I am a chef from minneapolis and never make it to chicago, so i am willing to spend a bit of cash for the meal. Please help?
There's a nice casual fine dining place called Frankie's that we've gone to and have found quite good. Also, Isabella's.
Francesca's, the local chain of very decent Italian, has two restaurants in the area--one in Mokena, and one further up on LaGrange. I'd recommend the Mokena one.
I'm not aware of any really creative chef-driven type restaurants in the immediate vicinity, although I can tell you one that's not exactly close but do-able. I had one of the very best meals EVER (see http://chowhound.chow.com/topics/403032 ) at Robert Burcenski's Tallgrass in Lockport; Google Maps says the distance from First Midwest Amphitheater is 18 miles, 25 minutes, so I'm not sure whether you could make a 7:30 show (they open at 5:30 and you would want to be out of there by 7:00 at the very latest); you might want to call them to check to see what they can do. www.tallgrassrestaurant.com
If you prefer to eat closer to the show, I recommend Tin Fish right in Tinley Park for good seafood. I also recommend getting a reservation; I went there at an early hour before a show at First Midwest Amphitheater and was surprised how crowded it was. But it was good, even though it may not be the chef-driven type place you're looking for. Tin Fish opens at 4:30 so there's no problem getting a reservation on the early side so you have plenty of time to make the show. www.tinfishrestaurant.com
One more option is Cooper's Hawk Winery and Restaurant in Orland Park. I ate at another of their locations and loved it. It's not fine dining but the menu is interesting, and the food is well prepared. They make their own wines (they're actually quite good as well as reasonably priced) and you can try them for free in the tasting room. They're very favorably priced at dinner, too, with markups around 40 percent from their retail prices. www.coopershawkwinery.com
You might want to check out these topics about Tinley Park dining. They're not really new but I think the recommendations there are still relevant. The first one is brief, the second one is lengthy.
