Breakfast in Sacramento

Hi. I will be in Sacramento for Easter weekend and wanted to do a Saturday brunch/breakfast and was looking for any good recommendations. Thanks, in advance!

  1. Where in Sacramento? (It's a rather large town with more than one traffic light.)

Lucky Cafe 21st street. My favorite breakfast place on the grid (midtown).

BUT, the breakfasts at the Lake Forest Cafe are the best in the area (Folsom)

And Granite Rock Grill in Rocklin (not as far as Auburn and IMO better that Katrinas)is great too. Tops in the area. I love it and make the drive from Folsom to eat here about once a month..

BUT if you really want something kind of more different, try the High Hand Nursery in Loomis. Food served in the atrium, there is an on site deli and the grounds and store are wonderful. It is a destination type place....

      Lake Forest Cafe
13409 Folsom Blvd, Folsom, CA 95630

      Granite Rock Grill
5140 Pacific St, Rocklin, CA 95677

Sac Bee review of High hand Nursery. Hope you saw this and went there today OP.....

    2. For low key I like Evan's Kitchen in East Sacramento, very good biscuits and gravy.
For a dive, try Uptown Cafe on Del Paso Blvd.
If you are looking for a bit more upscale Tower Cafe does a decent brunch, way better than Fox and Goose in my view.
The best in the region IMHO is Katrina's in Auburn, about a 50 minute drive up I-80 but the food is worth it. There can be a bit of a wait though since its small and it is cash only.

As Peter L mentioned, price range, setting, food type, and transportation would be helpful for further suggestions.

      Tower Cafe
      1518 Broadway, Sacramento, CA 95818

456 Grass Valley Hwy, Auburn, CA 95603

      Uptown Cafe
1121 Del Paso Blvd, Sacramento, CA 95815

      Evan's Kitchen
      855 57th St Ste C, Sacramento, CA 95819

Anywhere in Sacramento is fine. And any price range, really. I'm from the area, so discovering something new is fun. We tend to like local, fresh food, but can be adventurous.

      2. a few years ago the Railroad Cafe was discussed favorably. Anyone been lately?

It's turned into a chinese restaurant

          2. Fox and Goose has always been my favorite. I live close to the Tower Cafe and I don't understand the crowds I see for any meal. Every once in a while my wife and I try it and have always been disappointed. Evan's kitchen is okay but not spectacular.

            1. For old-fashioned, coffee shop style food, Eggies (on Fulton Ave.) has really good omelets. I also like Tower Cafe and would recommend the Crab Cakes Benedicts. I've never been, but I've heard excellent things about the Boulevard Bistro in Elk Grove.

              Boulevard Bistro
8941 Elk Grove Boulevard, Elk Grove, CA 95624

              Eggie's Restaurant
1650 Fulton Ave, Sacramento, CA 95825

I live right near Eggies and IMHO, is very inconsistent. I used to ordered my breakfasts to go because the wait is long to get in and even longer to be served.

Yeah, I work near there also, so I only go there at lunch time. I never have a hard time getting a table. The service does depend on who you get. The young man is pretty good, but some of the older waitresses have been there a long time and don't seem to care much anymore. I have noticed that the food has been inconsistent over the last couple of years, but overall I still like the place. I especially like their omelets for breakfast and when I get lunch, I always get the side salad because of the homemade croutons.

Too late but Cafe Bernardo on Capital has great breakfasts!!
