Sunday night dinner (after 9pm) for 20 teen-aged volleyball players near BWI?

I'm interested in reasonably priced non-chain restaurants that can accommodate a hungry, tired crowd - Italian, Chinese, Thai? Little Spice (which has been often mentioned on these boards is closed on Sundays). Thank you!

  1. While I'd love to see a group like that be introduced to Grace Garden, you may have mutiny at some point in the evening.

They may think you're crazy or packing a time-traveling machine, but Snyder's Willow Grove could accomodate the group and has a wide standard American selection to choose from - and it's solid fare.

Just up the road from it is G&M. I've only had the crabcake which was disappointingly bad, but the vibe might fit them better (I believe it gets pretty packed, though, and seating a group that size may be an issue at peak hours).

    1. re: Dennis S

Los Portales on Aviation Blvd is very near the airport and has a rather extensive menu if you could consider Mexican. The food has always been reliably good. The wait staff is family friendly.

    2. Stained Glass Pub in Elkridge is big enough for several groups and open till 2 am every night. They have very good pizza and a large menu.

      1. My friend hosted a private party at the Pratt Street Ale House recently in their Library Room and it was great. They were kid friendly and had a really tasty menu. It is downtown across from the convention center but still really close to 95.

        1. Late Sunday night doesn't have a lot of choices around BWI. With the exception of Maiwand Kabob at Arundel Mills (too small and slow for that size crowd), Five Guys (greasy burgers), Grace Garden (maybe a little too unusual and divey), and Little Spice, that area is kind of bland. With that said some people really like the huge crab cakes at G&M's or Timbuktu though I think they're just OK. I haven't been to Stained Glass Pub.

Any chance you'll get out earlier? Are you playing at the VB House in Elkridge, or flying in that night?

Your choices are better if you can range a little further afield. For Chinese I'd suggest Hunan Manor in Columbia (25 minutes away), which though not comparable to the Bay Area is respectable. If you're willing to pay more I'd go to Victoria Gastro Pub for more eclectic cuisine, also in Columbia. But I think both places are only open till 10 pm on Sundays.

I also tried LeeLynn's in Ellicott City a while back on the basis of a Chowhound recommendation and the food wasn't bad. But they're kind of pricey for what you get and I don't know if they'd be open or could handle the crowd.
