The corner's always been a struggle but I think I've finally found something worth eating there. It's a place called Creasians. Turns out it's actually owned by the son of Sam Woo's restaurant owners- they bought the place a little while back and they've totally redone the kitchen and menu.

I had grilled short ribs on coconut rice- the meat was cooked nicely and had great flavour. My sister had beef teriyaki udon that was tasty too. All the dishes were plated nicely- I looked over at some of the other tables and their plates all looked great. Prices pretty reasonable.

Anyway, nice to actually see a promising place move into that corner. The guys that work there are pretty young but they seem to know what they're doing. Looking forward to going back.

  1. Do you mean, as you've typed, Sam Woo the chain restaurant or Sai Woo that used to be around Dundas and Bay? The latter would be intriguing.

You are going way back Googs! I think either would be intriguing. Sam Woo's have done a better job on Cantonese cuisine than Sai Woo ever did and much more recently. How either translates to Japanese/Asian fusion is the intriguing thing, but perhaps not relevant if the food at Creasians proves to be good. Agree that corner of the city needs a good one.

Yeah- I did mean Sam Woo the chain restaurant. Personally I really love Sam Woo (it's like a childhood favorite) so it's pretty exciting to see them branching downtown.

      2. i have only been once and that was enough for me, i thought it really average and certainly not a destination. if i happened to be on that street, i would rather eat at the elephant and castle-and that isn't saying much, but i would rather go a couple of blocks and find something better.

        1. I really like the Vietnamese place there. Sorry I can't remember the name.

You might mean Green Fusion. It used to be a Ginger. Then I think ownsership changed and so did its name. Same food though, and pretty much the same staff.

Yes that's it. Their basic pho is really good and so is their veggie sub.

Yeah I really like Green Fusion too.
