Valetine`s Day Weekend dining experience at the Rimrock Banff
Hi,
My wife & I were able to have a "getaway" wkend on Valentine`s Day & stayed at the Rimrock as we have several times previously..
We decided to have dinner in the Primrose dining room so we wouldn`t have to drive back to the townsite that evening.
I should point out that we have eaten in the Primrose before & while the food was not spectacula,r the experience was fine.. We decided to have the Valentine`s Day special, not something I normally would order. but "let`s go for it!". The menu read AAA Alberta ribeye & a half lobster tail. Now I wasn`t expecting an inch & a 1./4 thick ribeye but my plate arrived with a wafer thin steak that was tough & overcooked. My lobster was absolutely the worst example of lobster I`ve ever tried to eat. Obviously, it had been frozen(I wasn`t expecting fresh lobster!) but it had a very strange taste as if it had boiled in bleach. One bite told me not to eat it!! The only positive part of the meal was the vegetables & the wine.
I spoke to the manager as we were leaving & he adjusted our bill which was not what I was looking for. To me, the important question was "Why are you serving such terrible food??". It seemed that the Rimrock had decided to cash in on the long wkend traffic & maximise profits at the expense of serving quality food at a reasonable price.
We wuill stay at the hotel again but fdefinitely won`t be diding there again.
