Best restaurant to suggest to visitors in Vancouver for just one night?

What would you recommend - any cuisine and any neighbourhood is fine.

Hard to argue with Vij's. Blue Water if $ isn't an object. I'd throw in a vote for Market as well.

The Lift. The food is good, the martinis are good and it is right on the water. If it's only for one night I vote for a water view. The Pan Pacific restaurant is over rated - more garnish than substance so while the view is lovely, I'd pass.

Taking the tram up to Grouse Mountain would be nice too if you have more time.

Mmmm three more menus to peruse - thank-you for your great ideas. The tram ride is also a fun idea that we have never tried before. This Vancouver Board is wonderful - thank-you all for your suggestions and help.

Can't go wrong with Blue Water, Lumiere, Cioppinos, Vij's

(I note that you are from Ontario). How about Guu with Garlic....or perhaps Vij's.

Thank-you for the ideas. We love Indian food and have read so many rave reviews about Vij's - so it is a strong contender. The Guu in Toronto is very popular, but we have never tried it - so for a Japanese evening, it would be ideal to try the magic of Guu in its hometown. We have bookmarked both restaurants. Thanks again for your help.

Are you aware that Guu w/Garlic is a bar w/food?

It's not a 'dinner spot' as such.

Don't get me wrong I Love the place but it's not for everyone-crowded and cacophonous come to mind-you never know what will be playing @ full volume-might be The Beatles might be some kind of Metal.

Thank-you for the noise factor detail. Guu w/ Garlic sounds tasty - but we would definitely prefer a quieter dinner spot to allow for easy conversation.
