Paris bar scene - what do you think of it?

Just working on a piece on the Paris bar scene, which I know well, but I was just hoping to see what others thought about it when compared to other cities like, perhaps , New York or London. I'm talking about the entire bar scene: from top palaces to dive bars to trendy places. Any feedback is appreciated.
