Alinea - Tour Length?

My wife and I have reservations for Alinea in May, we chose the full tour when we made the reservation, and were wondering roughly what sort of time commitment the tour requires. We have a 9:30 reservation and an early flight the next morning, and some of the posts I've read have hinted that the Tour might be a 4-5 hour time commitment, which might change our plans.

The tour (24 or so courses, $225) takes 4.5-5.0 hours. The tasting (13 or so courses, $150) takes 3.0 hours. This is with their normal pacing, which is fine, i.e. you don't feel rushed but you don't feel like you're waiting around too long between courses.

You might want to discuss your concerns with them over the phone, so they can advise you on whether you might want to switch to the tasting menu, or if adjusting the time on your reservation is a possibility. (FWIW, I haven't felt "cheated" in any way when I've had the tasting menu; it's the genuine "Alinea experience".)

Sleep on the plane - do the Tour - it is worth every penny.....and yes, all 4.5 hours of it. :-)

I ate there tonight. It was a little under 4 hours. It partially depends on how many ppl are at the table. We started around 5 course behind the table of 6 next to us and finished at the same time.
