Tips for Dining, Eating, and Food Shopping in Manhattan

5 day trip to NYC for 30th Birthday - Breakfast suggestions wanted..

We are staying at NYC Palace and so would like some breakfast options around that area.

We are pretty much sorted for dinner reservations and plan on visiting Tao, Dizzy's for some Jazz, Balthazar, Boat House, Central Park for lunch and Sakagura. We don't want anything too high end and prefer casual places where we can relax - any suggestions??

        1. There's a Juan Valdez Cafe at Lexington & 46th. You should try it once for excellent coffee and great sweet arepas de choclo and pan de bono. I think this location may also have some outside tables if the weather's nice. It's a low-key coffee bar atmosphere, no waiter service.

          1. NOT in the area, but Pulino's just opened on the corner of Bowery and Houston -- I mention it because it's the same owner as Balthazar, which you mentioned, and also in the same neighborhood -- and the breakfast is fantastic. It's adjacent to some of the city's best shopping, and a block from the New Museum, so I'm sure you will find it convenient once you get there. Egg pizza - what better way to start the morning!
