Need a Rec for a Greenport, LI Bachelorette Party

mla19 Mar 19, 2010 01:50 PM

Hi All - I'm organizing my younger sister's bachelorette party out in Greenport this summer and I'm looking for a dinner recommendation. I've done searches on the Chowhound boards and seen a bunch of recs for upscale "foodie" places like the Frisky Oyster but unfortunately, I need a place a bit more reasonable and casual than that b/c we're talking about 15-20 girls in their mid-twenties who are not willing to spend $30+ on their entree. Is there anywhere in town (we won't have a car) that fits the bill but isn't a total disappointment on the food front? If it were up to me, this would be a totally different kind of trip but alas it is not my bachelorette! Thanks!

What about that place D'Latte, the place that had Tom Schaudel for a few minutes?

I think D'Latte closed. Claudio's is casual and hardly a foodie place, but stil relativelyl pricey based on the menu http://www.claudios.com/ordereze/Cont...
Apps will set up back $9-12. Cheapest entree is linquine w/clam sauce $14.

Hellenic Snack Bar, which is away from downtown in E. Marion. Here's the menu http://www.thehellenic.com/Hellenic%2...

Also consider the Soundview Inn on Route 48 along the Sound, but entrees in the mid $20s. http://www.soundviewrestaurant.com/me...

        Good luck!

D'Latte or D'Latte Too? I know Too closed, but I thought D'Latte was still around.

I thought of Claudios because there are four different food venues there, all with different price points, and it has a real party atmosphere, so a large bachelorette party wouldn't be out of place. They are looking for somewhere in the village, and have no transportation by the way, otherwise I was going to say Soundview too, or possibly Skippers. A party of 20 would probably overwhelm Hellenic.

I always loved the Hellenic Snack Bar in the summer after a round of golf at Island's End next door. Souvlaki on a bed of French fries was always a personal favorite lol!

                Confirmed: D'Latte is closed.

Correction: D'Latte is *open*. Despite the window having been papered over and the signage taken down, that was just for the WINTER closing! (even though it remained closed well into spring).

I would suggest the Greenporter Hotel's La Cuvée Wine Bar & Bistro or Noah's where the old Frisky Bar was.

Even if D'Latte were open, it is more of a cafe.

Although it is not in the heart of Greenport, A Mano (http://www.amanorestaurant.com/) in Mattituck is a good choice with lots of options. They have a nice outdoor porch too. It's only a 15 minute drive from Greenport.

In Greenport, I haven't been to Noah's (http://www.chefnoahschwartz.com/) yet, but it's a "small plates" place, so there are cheaper options on the menu for those ladies. Same goes for Vine (across from the IGA), but it's a really quiet place and the service is pretty spotty. Bay and Main (http://www.bayandmain.com/) also gets good reviews, but their website is not working properly at the moment.

It's a shame you guys can't manage to go to Frisky Oyster, it has the perfect bachelorette feel and scene.

Have you thought about going over to Shelter Island. Sunset Beach (http://www.sunsetbeachli.com/restaura...) is amazing. It's a little pricey, but can't these girls just order apps? You'd have to head back before the last ferry returns to Greenport, and you can party at Claudio's.

I'm going to suggest Love Lane Kitchen for breakfast or lunch at some point. That is my favorite spot on the east end. Definitely worth a try if you're looking for a spot for those meals.

I'd love to know what you end up doing, because I'm thinking of having my own bachelorette party out on the East End as well, next summer. Good luck!
