Scandinavian Festival at Cal Lutheran - April 17 & 18

Just a quick reminder that the Annual Scandinavian (and Baltic Region) Festival at Cal Lutheran in Thousand Oaks will be taking place on April 17 & 18 this year. Come on down to try some delicious Scandinavian delights and watch demonstrations on how lefse and krumkake are made. There is also a children's area in which they can do some really fun crafts. Lots of good food and fun for the whole family!! Hope to see you there!

I think it's covered under "a smörgåsbord of Nordic delicacies"

Actually, I went to this once many years ago when I lived in Camarillo. It was pretty nice.

Last time I asked that question I was told quite firmly that lutefisk is a special holiday dish, and of course it would not be served in the middle of Spring.

I'll make it to the Sons of Norway xmas dinner one of these years.

Make it this year, Bjartmaar!! The Lutefisk dinner is going to take place in November (I believe the weekend of the 19 & 20, but I will post about a month and a half before). The meatballs and Lefse are handmade by the members (you can also purchase Lefse there). And the Lutefisk "chefs" know their stuff (very specific cooking times) so it always comes out very good.
The SoN also has a Julebord with all traditional Norwegian Christmas dishes. That takes place in December (duh) - the second Saturday and reservations are required.
I also hear talk that there will be a Lefse-making class at the lodge sometime this year - I will update here in case anyone is interested.
Also, they do not serve it at the Festival, but there are many other delicious things to try. Lefse, Meatballs, Krumkake, Aebleskiver, etc.
