Urbana?

Anyone been to Urbana lately? It's the only place I can get a reservation for 6 for the day and time I need (in Dupont Circle area), but it has been a while since I've eaten there. So I'm wondering how the food rates these day. Thanks

I too have had service issues (in the bar area), but the food was pretty good. I will say, the average age in the dining area at 6:30pm on a Friday was close to 65 or 70. It was rather bizarre given the club atmosphere. Literally, several wandering old ladies. Odd.

Completely opposite when I was there -- skewed young on a Saturday night.

That's what I would have expected.. I was very surprised. Good to hear it's not always the case! I'm sure they were very nice elderly ladies, just seemed incongruous.

What a disaster -- fortunately the food was remarkably good. Unfortunately we had to wait more than an hour for our entrees, and we only got them because I interceded with the waitperson and then the manager. Yes they comped our desserts which was decent of them. But that did not change the fact that our evening was ruined. And the (very) loud music with a thump, thump, thump beat did not help matters. More like a club than a restaurant. Very embarrassed that I brought my friends to Urbana.

Are you saying you waited an hour AFTER you ordered? Comping dessert was not much of a gesture.

Yes, sadly, that is what I mean. And had I not been with a group of friends who don't get to see each other to often, I would have left long before the hour was up. The place was packed, though, so I don't imagine any complaints will matter. I'm sure they're just as happy to lose my business.
