Any suggestions on a first date restaurant in the Round Rock area?

  • 8

I'm fairly new to Round Rock and was seeking advice on a good first date restaurant. The Main Street Grill was recommended to me by a co-worker but that looks to be a little to high end. Any suggestions, advice or recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

  1. What type of food and atmosphere are you going for? Romantic? Casual? Quiet? Fun? Tex-Mex, Italian, etc?

No type of food in particular with only sushi being out of the question. I'm probably leaning towards a casual atmosphere but I'd prefer for it to not be so loud that it's difficult for conversation to take place.

Brooklyn Heights on Parmer and Avery Ranch has great pizza, lasagna, pastas. Might be a little loud, but they do have a patio. If the weather is nice, perhaps take a drive out to Liberty Hill to Dahlia's Cafe. It's excellent home cooking and they have an awesome outside seating area under large oak trees. It's about a 20 minute drive from RR, but would be a chance to chit chat and get to know each other.

I also like Casa Garcia's on 35 but not sure if it's a good date place. I like the enchiladas and tamales there. They have homemade flour and corn tortillas.

Another thought is Mama Roux's at Parmer and 35. A little drive down but the food is delicious and it's nice while still being casual.

        Good luck and have fun!

    2. Main St. Grill and Gumbos would be the obvious choices. Teji's, Hoody's or Pacific Start would be off the wall, but all good choices. Tokyo Steak House could be fun, can get pricy.

Maybe Gino's? Safe, not a chain. Sichuan Garden is authentic, quiet, but unromantic.

      1. I got to taste Louisiana Longhorn Cafe's food at the Taste of RR recently. They had the best food at this event, hands down. Don't know what the place is like, but if they cook as good as they did at that event it's a no brainer.

        1. I would certainly recommend Gumbo's. The atmosphere is conducive to conversation and every meal I have had there has been great. I did have a great experience in the vault at the Main Street Grill a few years ago. It's a converted bank building. I asked the chef to choose the meal and the evening was very memorable. Someone else mentioned Mama Roux and I have become fond of that place, as well. I have not been frequently so I can't recommend specific dishes. It's a quaint place and the owners, Yoli and Michael, are ever present.

              Second.

On my first date with my wife I took her to a "family" style Italian restaurant in the Bronx. Great food, but sitting in long tables next to other people.
