South Indian in Hartford or between there and Boston?

  • 3

Hubby is in that part of the world on business.....the Boston suburbs today and tomorrow, then on to Hartford for a couple of days...then flying home from Boston. He has been craving a good dosa and some idli sambar lately. Anyone have any suggestions in that neck of the woods I can gift him with?

Other inexpensive choices for all kinds of food welcome!

  1. Kashmir in Hartford (or perhaps the Taste of India, but I dislike buffets), is the only thing I know of that seems worth investigating. Ambassador of India has closed all its locations.
As far as good stuff between Hartford and Boston, I made this map specifically for that: http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?hl=en&...

We've split the requests for info on places in Boston to the Greater Boston Board: http://chowhound.chow.com/topics/695720

    2. In Middletown (about 30 minutes south of Hartford--faster if there's no traffic), your hubby would enjoy a dosa and some idli at Udupi Bhavan in the Tradewinds Plaza on Saybrook Rd. It's very casual--order at the counter and bring your tray to the table--but also very good. I don't know anywhere else in the area that serves dosa--this was the first place I ever had one. Note this is a vegetarian restaurant.

Here's a thread from last year that should round out your "other inexpensive choices" request:
