Tips for Dining, Eating, and Food Shopping in Brooklyn, Queens, Staten Island, and The Bronx

Blue Ribbon, Slope

First time here after hearing so many differing opinions. Throughly enjoyed the beef marrow with warm oxtail marmalade. That is one amazing dish and I don't say amazing often. I have to wonder if the bones were cleaned then stuffed with marrow as they were really filled and typically I have never seen that much marrow in a bone. Either way, serious props here and the marmalade was awesome. Also got the smoked fish platter, one of their house specialties. Loved the small amount of trout there was, one scallop cut in half was tasty , 2 small shrimp were good but the majority of the plate was very smokey, smoked salmon that I did not enjoy. Was it worth $26, probably not. Cote de Rhone was nice.

    1. Yeah, a lot of people feel the way you do — good food, good service, but over the top prices, not worth it.

My wife and I have been going irregularly since they opened, and we love the place. It's one of our main go-to places for small celebrations, for comfort on a bad day, for comfort on a good day. We wish the prices were gentler, but so far, at least, we're willing to pay them. As are apparently many others, given how crowded it gets at prime times.

Honestly, I'd pay whatever they asked for the beef marrow dish!!
