Purple Liqueur? What was it?

Many moons ago, in a lifestyle far away ....(in the Early 90's)
(Living in Jerusalem, partying quite a bit with students from all over the world)
I drank a liqueur that was purple, and sweet, and I really liked it.
It wasn't grape flavored, and it wasn't floral.

I think it was called Amour.... or something "amourous" like that, but I've never seent it since...and lately, I've been trolling the liquor stores looking to build my home-bar, since I don't get out much.

Has anyone ever heard of it, or know what the American version is? What do you do with it?

It's not so easy to find around here, but I believe there was some at Cambridge Wine and Spirits (Fresh Pond) recently.

i found it at martignettis.... and have been making purple drinks for a few weeks! I mix it with gin. and a bit of lemon juice... basically a purple martini!

Calling that a Martini on this forum is like walking around Boston with a Yankee's cap on. :)

Well, I do know what a real martini is and tastes like... I just don't know what to call my stunning lavender cocktail....plus I do put it in a martini glass!

Yeah, I've been drinking real, dry gin martinis, since before they were cool!

Ah parfait amour, one of my favourites. I also had an interesting (purple) cocktail a week ago, which was the Lavender Aviator - equal parts lavender liqueur, gin and lemon juice. Mmmm cocktails tonight :)
