Something that I can't get at home in NYC!

My husband and I will be in Las Vegas in early April. We are looking for a restaurant that has top-notch food and is not an outpost of place we can eat at home in NYC. I'd be especially interested in hearing about someplace new (our last trip out was about 18 mos. ago). Thanks!

I just returned from LV a few days ago. I am also from NY and prefer to eat at restaurants that do not have a NY presence when in Vegas. My two recommendations for you are Spago at the Forum Shops and any Michael Mina restaurant. I ate at Spago twice this trip (I stayed at Caesars) and loved both meals. I also had a great meal Michael Mina at Bellagio. Last August I ate at Stripsteak at Mandalay Bay. It is Mina's LV steak restaurant. Great steak made with a unique preparation and great sides. Have fun.

I'm from NYC and am returning to LV in mid-April. I highly recommend Alex at The Wynn (my favorite restaurant in LV), and Bar Charlie (only open Friday and Saturday nights). I'm trying two new restaurants: Pierre Gagnaire's Twist at the Mandarin Oriental and CUT at the Palazzo (we don't have either of those restaurants in NYC), and they receive excellent reviews on this Board. Have a great time!

Another NY'er recently back from LV: had crawfish at Hot and Juicy and stone crab claws at Joe's (in Caesar's) that would be hard to find at home. Can get the latter at Oceana or Aquagrill or Grand Central, but the SO said the sweetness and freshness (!) at Joe's were unmatched in NYC. H+J is quite unlike Mara's or Delta Grill. Went to Twist, as mentioned by ellenost. Chef does not have a NYC outpost; posted briefly about it a week or two ago. Wanted to try Hash House a Go Go (Imperial Palace) since missed it in San Diego, but never got the chance. Did get to Michael Mina (Bellagio), but he does have an outpost in Atlantic City. Loved it, but you may not like the roving photographer (!!); possible that he was only on-site because it was Valentine's Day.

According to critic John Curtas, Restaurant Charlie has shut its doors as of tonight. Sad!

Thanks everyone. So far we're booked at Picasso and Twist. Can't seem to make up our minds on anything else!

Must get the Lobster Pot Pie at Michael Mina.

Another great choice that I recently visited is Brasserie Puck in the new City Center Mall. The roasted chicken with brioche stuffing is great and the banana beignets are seriously one of my favorite desserts to get now in LV.

Bouchon, although there is one in NY, the brunch and dinner is something you should definitely try. The chicken and waffles are spectacular. The seafood plateau has the freshest seafood. The chocolate mouse, another winner.

I had the lobster pot pie a few weeks back at Michael Mina in Atlantic City. Delicious.

Brasserie Puck sounds like an interesting lunch option. Might have to check that out.

              Thanks.
