Restaurant suggestions near DC Courthouse on Indiana Ave?

MissNicoleMarie Mar 17, 2010 07:13 AM

My partner and I will be getting married at the Moultrie Courthouse next week. We would like to go out to eat with family and friends (15 people total) after the ceremony but I'm from MD so I don't know anything about good eats in DC!

I'd like a place that has a variety of food choices for all tastes & a bar so we can do a champagne toast. A nice upscale, eclectic... but not too pricey atmosphere would be perfect.

I second Cafe Atlantico and would also add in Rasika (Indian). Bistro Bis is really nice and has good food, but it isn't eclectic.

I think 701 (conveniently located at 701 Pennsylvania Ave) is your best option. Nice place. But you'd have to check out the hours.

Had a very nice meal at 701 last Saturday. There is a pre-theater menu, prix fixe at about $25, which is also v good.

My great friend is a chef at 701 ironically! But he will be attending that day, and probably not wanting to go into work on his day off.
That is the type of atmosphere I am going for, though! Great suggestions!
Has anyone tried Ten Penh? I've heard of it from some people in my office and considering making a reservation for that day.

I was going to suggest 701, but after seeing the replies, I second Rasika or Cafe Atlantico. TenPenh would be a good choice. Getting a group of 15 into any of these places next week may be a challenge. Also, I wouldn't exactly describe them as having "a variety of food choices for all tastes."

I haven't tried Art & Soul, but have heard good things about it. It's pretty close and, I think, it has outdoor seating.

I haven't been at all impressed with Art and Soul and the location seems more hotely than many of the other restaurants in hotels in the area. I think the other choices are much better.

              First off...Congrats!

Now to the food: Cafe Atlantico is a fun idea. You might also like Bistro Bis, Proof or Poste.
