Grinder/Mixie with strong motor
I need a heavy duty grinder to use for desi cooking in the US. I can't take the Indian ones to the US because of voltage issues (I think). Are the desi brands available for US use? If not, what are the US brands that are suitable for frequently grinding large quantities of spices, lentils, and chutney? Coffee bean grinder is too small, I need something with multiple size jars and a strong motor.
Thanks in advance.

you probably want this: https://www.securewebexchange.com/sum...
If you search CH for "Sumeet"you will find threads discussing that it sometimes seems to be out of stock for a long time. I have been tempted but have not yet acted; if I decided to bite the bullet I would probably call this Canadian distributor to ask about availability.

Oh wow, I like the Sumeet...pricey but since I grind stuff often it would be well used. Thanks.

I ordered a Sumeet MultiGrind about a year and a half ago but never received so much as a call from them. The only response I got, on the few times I could get through to them, was that they should be available in a month or so. I cancelled my order late last year.
Info on another website suggested that Sumeet had gone belly up and recommended the Preethi Eco Plus from the following US source; http://www.perfectpeninsula.com/.
I believe that this particular model has been replaced but in any event I thought it was a bit of overkill and at least twice the price of the Sumeet.
I'm still looking for something like the MultiGrind in the same price range.

Oh gosh, thanks for telling me that. I'm really sorry that happened to you.
Preethi is a very popular grinder brand...I will probably go for that. I wonder about part replacement over the years...

I can't speak to parts availability but listed below are some comments from the web site that got me interested in the Sumeet in the first place. Barbara really loved her Sumeet but now is very pleased with her new Preethi.

Thanks for the review link. Preethi is a well loved brand of grinders. In Dubai such a model is about 40 US dollars, and in India it is a little bit less. It feels weird having to pay so much for that. But in order to use that in my American kitchen I will have to fork out the cash.
