Maui Food Truck
Way down south, past Wailea in the Makena area...near the state park entrance we stopped at a food truck today for lunch. There were two items on offer, Kalua pork sliders, two per order and fish tacos, your choice Ahi or some other fish. We got 2 orders of sliders and 1 of tacos. It's $12 for the Ahi tacos and $9 for the pork slider pairs.
First the bad news. I didn't like the tacos at all. Too much cabbage. Tortilla was soaked. The fish was small portion and not outstanding in any way.
Now the good news...I loved the pork sliders. The buns were fresh, yellowish, like a brioche, almost, and the overall impression was like one of those baked chinese pastries with pork in the middle of a bunch of dough. Except better because there was more pork and the cabbage/slaw was appropriately proportioned for the dish.
There was a table under a tent-like awning to eat at with about 8 chairs. We met nice people and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. You'll like it if you like real hole-in-the-wall food experiences.
Did you tell them about the tacos so they can correct the problem?
For that price I would have...
