Pre-Order Bentos?

Hey all, just wondering if you know of a place in Toronto that does pre-orders for cute bento box lunches. We were planning a group trip to see the Cherry Blossoms in High Park this spring and want to do it up proper Japanese style. If you know of any Japanese restaurants that will do this via internet or phone, please let me know asap!

Thanks for your help!

  1. Try New Generation Sushi. Their Bento boxes are very good quality and a great price.

    1. When I used to work around Bloor and Church, I would pre-order bentos from Rikishi to cater lunch meetings. Very good and properly Japanese enough (I.e., )I wouldn't be embarrassed to bring one of them to Osaka-jo Koen.)

        Whoops. I meant Ichiriki.

      2. Another option would be to drive over to J-Town, stock up on groceries, and make them yourself. May be a good alternative if none of the restaurants will make one for you.

Do not go to New Generation Sushi, their type of "Bento Box" has nothing at all to do with what you're looking for.

        1. If I recall Sanko Trading Japanese grocery store on Queen St W has "homemade" meals on the weekends. I bet if you called ahead and requested - they might be able to make you something quite authentic.

          1. Try this obento catering place on Adelaide:

Their website's all in Japanese but you can see the various bentos they make, and can order them by phone.

            1. Taste of Japan in Markham does this.

That's not really Bento. That's bastardized japanese food in a bento box.

              2. While out of your way, Taro's fish does some nice bento boxes.

In fact, their take-out menu specifically lists the options. I have eaten them a number of times and really enjoyed the quality and variety.
