Where would be a nice restaurant in Westwood or SM for a family celebration. Good food, any type of ethnic is good.

I really enjoyed Tanino in Westwood during my last visit. For a larger group, they have an upstairs area. But for a group of 6-8, I'd just call ahead to see if they can make a special space for you in the main dining room. I thought the food was outstanding.

Westside Tavern has great food, but don't take reservations. In the Pavilion.
Napa Valley Grille has decent food.

In SM, either patio at Wilshire or Whist at the Viceroy is very nice - food is good at both. Anisette has a lively atmosphere, terrific french bistro food; La Botte has delicious, Expensive Italian food.

Napa Valley Grille has several nice private rooms, and a good menu. It's not stellar, but it's good and the rooms are very nice.
