Zinfandel Ice Cream at Tuckers, Alameda

Rosenblum & Tucker's annual project is very good this time out as they used the Annette's Vineyard Reserve Zinfandel which has a lot more bright friut and plays well off of the raspberry flavors and chocolate chips. (And no, the alcohol is not cooked out) Yuummmy!

Other interesting flavors as of yesterday on the board: Salted Butter Caramel, Tuscan Sunset (Milk Chocolate with Candied Orange Peel), Ube and their usual suspects

Unfortunately we missed out on the Thin Mint Ice Cream which Kate will make more of if we can find a good quantity of the cookies. Anyone have a Girl Scout connection that has some left?

  1. There is a copy cat recipe on this board - perhaps a local bakery would make them for her in exchange for an advertising mention and a nominal fee - most likely more affordable than buying them from a Girl Scout!

    1. Thanks for the head's up! The supply is limited, so I'll have to run right over there after work and stock up (my birthday is coming up!). I'd like to try the salted butter caramel, too.

Thanks again! I got a quart and stashed in the freezer for next week -- and told the ice cream moocher that if he touched it, he died!

There are various makers of cookies similar to thin mints. Very cheap and just as good (IMHO) are the Holiday Winter Mints, classic cookies from Barbara Dee. Available around the holidays, and often super cheap on clearance afterwards, and in places like Big Lots.

      2. The Chowhound "Supertaster" also reviewed a cookie he declared better than the Thin Mint (link below). Maybe Tuckers could give this cookie a try since it is commercially available and should be able to secure them in quantity.
