u can walk a block over to st marks. tons of stuff there like baogette (i only like their viet sandwich)
theres also this awesome cuab place between 1st and a on 6th st i think a few blocks over. but they have an awesome deep fried cuban sandwich and a sloppy joe sandwich thats delicious.

Try Acme on Great Jones Street, about five minute walk alongLafayette south of Astor Place. Solid southern food (i.e. poor boy's) very good burger and bar.
