I haven't been for some time but used to go all the time and always found them a bargain considering the quality. Favorite place for shaking beef...not to mention lobster.

just discovered they have a lunch special with $9 bo luc lac, i think i'll wait and go back for that

We paid $40 for lunch for three in Nov 2008 (2xbo luc lac, 1 papaya salad, 1 pho tai) if that's any help. It was all very good but the bll with the nicely balanced lemon pepper dipping sauce stood out...

I hope you like it as much as I do. I think they do the best version I've ever had and always consistent. really special place.

i ended up going to turtle tower. excellent pho, but i wish they had taken more effort to trim the gristly pieces off of my beef

Turtle Tower has gotten really sloppy over the years due to their overwhelming success. For better pho in the same style, try some of the places in San Jose like Pho Hanoi. It's a long drive from SF, but it's much better than what they serve now at Turtle Tower. Broth is a lot cleaner with fuller chicken flavor, noodles are very fresh with bite and bounce, and the meat is much more tender and tasty.
