New Korean Market in Hartford - West End

Uncledave Mar 15, 2010 01:00 PM

Opened about a week ago, called "E-Mart". It's on the side of the FedEx/Kinkos building on Farmington Ave, across the street from Tisane and Ichiban.

It's the same owners of Ichiban, not surprisingly. The produce looked so-so and a bit overpriced, a nice fresh fish counter in the back with good prices, and a sizable cold case with panchan, many that are made at Ichiban plus some imports from Flushing, and assorted goodies. Standard Asian market freezer case and grocery aisles with items you'd expect.

Good addition to the area!

Have you been to A-dong on New Britain Ave on the Hartford/West Hartford line? The fish counter there is impressive.

Yes, they're the largest Asian market in the area.

E-Mart is tiny compared to it, but it's nice to have such a place on this side of town.

While we're on the asian-fish-counter sidetrack, Appletree on New Park has a good one.

I live spittin' distance from E-Mart, I'll have to head up there and check it out - after all the fratboys finish making Half Door and the surrounding neighborhood unlivable for the day.

Whenever I think of A-Dong, I terribly miss Dim Sum which was right next door. Did they move to another location? There's just no good Dim Sum house in Connecticut anymore
