Where to go for a light lunch in the East Village...?

Good soup, nice salads, interesting sandwiches, etc. Any suggestions? Thanks!

  1. not east village exactly, but how about corner shop cafe?

cute lunch spot- food isnt extraordinary but its convenient (corner of bleecker and broadway) and pretty reasonable. the last time i went, my poached eggs had a very odd texture and were not cooked well- but the sandwiches and soups look good so i'd def opt for that next time.

Corner Shop Cafe is closed for renovations! And they are under new ownership. They are reopening in the late spring.

    2. Northern Spy on 12th between A & B.

I second Northern Spy! Also -- Westville East is great for sandwiches, salads, etc.

      2. Tarallucci e Vino. Although I have only been to 18th Street branch. A bit pricey though.

Cafe Abraco has small interesting small plates and focaccia at lunch but little seating space.

Maybe try B & H for a borscht and grilled cheese.

East Village T & V also has very little seating space.

        2. Nicky's on Second bet. A & B

          1. Pylos is perfect! Excellent Greek food in a lovely setting. 7th St near Avenue A.
Also Belcourt, Mediterranean bistro on a sunny corner of 4th St and 2nd Ave. Very sweet service.
